ABOUT US

I was introduced to Green woodwork in 2002 by Mike Abbott who at the time was running courses at Clisset wood in Herefordshire. I returned in 2003 to do further courses then set up my own workshop at home in Hampshire, my main focus being the making of Welsh stick chairs.

In 2006 I had the opportunity to start running chair making courses at Spinney Hollow and with the help of Geoff Brown and Kate Hadley many beautiful chairs, stools and great memory's have been made.

I am now offering Green woodworking tuition at my workshop in Alresford including the opportunity for people to taylor blocks of evening courses to complete simple introductory projects through to advanced chairs.

Why Green Woodwork?

In recent years Green woodwork has become very popular. I think this is partly because it is so accessible. People of a wide range of ages and backgrounds have come on chair making courses, some of whom have never made anything out of wood, and successfully made a beautiful chair that will last for generations.

The tools and devices are safe and easy to use and you quickly discover how to work with the wood in its raw green state.

The furniture produced has a beautiful, organic look and feel and can retain much more of its natural characteristics than when using seasoned timber.
